Native Muse Gardens was born from a shared passion for native plants and a belief that the most beautiful landscapes are those that work in harmony with nature. We combine artistic vision with ecological wisdom, creating gardens that are both stunning and sustainable.
Allison brings her artistic background and hands-on experience managing a diverse native landscape, while Sonia contributes her scientific understanding and conservation expertise. Together, we design gardens that thrive in Central Texas Hill Country while supporting local ecosystems.
Allison fell in love with native plants the way most good obsessions start: accidentally. What began as chaos gardening in 2008 quickly evolved into a deep fascination with the plants that actually belong here. She became captivated by their seasonal rhythms, their growth patterns, the way some species thrive together while others refuse to cooperate, and most importantly, how they fit into the larger ecosystem of insects, birds, and wildlife.
Today, Allison manages a wooded acre in Leander with over 100 trees, where she continues to learn from the land itself. As an artist and founder of NatureTats, a nature-inspired art company, she brings the same attention to detail and ecological understanding to garden design, creating landscapes that work with nature rather than against it.
Sonia's journey into native plants started in 2010 with a single question about pollinators that led her straight into the world of monarch butterflies. The more she learned about the intricate relationship between monarchs and native milkweeds, the more she understood how fragile and essential that connection is, both ecologically and symbolically for our own human experience.
In 2022, she founded the Monarch Sanctuary Project, a nonprofit dedicated to teaching communities about native plants and pollinators. As a Texas Master Naturalist, Sonia recognizes that how we relate to our outdoor spaces shapes every landscaping decision we make. She's passionate about having real conversations that challenge our collective assumptions about what a yard should look like and what role native plants can play in reshaping that vision.
We blend artistic color palettes with deep ecological understanding, creating gardens that are both beautiful and functional.
Every design considers the entire ecosystem, from pollinators to wildlife, creating spaces that support biodiversity.
We challenge assumptions about what a yard should look like, helping you reimagine your outdoor space with native plants.
We believe in collaborative design that starts with understanding your space, your goals, and your relationship with the land. Our process combines:
Understanding your soil, light, climate, and existing ecosystem to create a design that works with your space
Creating a design that reflects your aesthetic and ecological goals, selecting native plants that thrive in Central Texas Hill Country
Our installation includes the initial installation day plus a couple of follow-up visits to ensure your garden is properly established and thriving
We offer an optional maintenance plan to help your garden establish over the next couple of years, as native gardens can take time to fully settle in. While we choose plants intentionally for each space, expect some natural evolution as plants decide how they want to fill out in their new environment.
